Coding pins are screwed onto the VMEbus boards for 3.3 V or 5 V operation to ensure that mezzanine boards cannot be confused when they are installed. The mezzanine boards have a hole in the corresponding position. The coding pin thus ensures that only mezzanine boards with the same voltage compatibility can be plugged in. 2 pieces are required for the double Europe board.
